BURLINGTON LEGACY PROJECT
The Burlington Legacy Project (formed in 1999) aims to create a holistic plan, enabling the future security and sustainability of our community within the economic, environmental and social realms.

THE BURLINGTON LEGACY ACTION PLAN
The Legacy Action Plan is Burlington's 2030 vision for the future.  Based on the intersection of the four E's (economy, environment, equity, education), this Plan strives to ensure that Burlington meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

CHITTENDEN REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION'S "ENVIRONMENT, COMMUNITY, OPPORTUNITY, AND SUSTAINABILITY" (ECOS) PROJECT
On June 19, 2013, the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission adopted the ECOS Plan as the Regional Plan and the Metropolitan Transportation Plan. On June 25, 2013 the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation adopted the ECOS Plan as the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for Chittenden County. The 2013 ECOS Plan is the culmination of almost two years of dedicated work from our municipalities, 45+ organizations and residents.

Interested in planning in the City of Burlington? BURLINGTON TRANSPORTATION PLAN
This plan provides a comprehensive assessment of Burlington's current infrastructure and provides suggestions for improvements that help to enable the vision expounded by the Burlington Legacy Project and Burlington's Municipal Development Plan.  The plan was adopted in 2010 and includes an integrative approach to transport including speed limits, walk-bike corridors, "complete streets," and more.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND NEIGHBORHOOD REVITILIZATION (CDNR)
Burlington's "Community Development and Neighborhood Revitalization" (CDNR, Formerly CCAN) is a committee of the City Council, made up of three members, which meets monthly to discuss quality of life issues.

VT FARM TO PLATE STRATEGIC PLAN
In 2009, Farm to Plate Investment Program legislation was signed into law and tasked the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund (VSJF) with the creation of a ten year Farm to Plate Strategic Plan to: increase economic development in Vermont’s farm and food sector; create jobs in the farm and food economy; and improve access to healthy local food for all Vermonters.

THE INTERVALE CENTER
Burlington's Intervale Center supports and enables local urban agricultural enterprises, providing leases and training to start up farmers.  For years, they maintained a substantial urban composting operation, turning organic wastes from the community and a range of local businesses into rich, fertile compost. They offer CSA's, small farm incubation, the Intervale Food Hub, a conservation nursery of native Northeastern plants, and more!
